Teach Me to Breathe is the first illustrated children’s book in the Positive Change Center Series designed to teach from the earliest age about breathing and balancing and control over moods and more in a fun colorful way. Written by Patricia Indigo Irwin along with collaboration from Lacey Kye Irwin who is also available for readings.
Watch and have fun while children teach a goldfish and his friends to slow down and breathe!
Here Jolly Jay the goldfish loves to play and play all day and forgets to take time to breathe, which eventually lowers his ability to play. Children first participate by helping to teach Jay how to breathe, then further in the story Jay and the children help Jay’s friends Mad Maggie, Speedy Sam and Blue Bob to breathe as well. Children break into laughter as the fish hold in their breath to look like blow fish.
The children then tell the fish to exhale. Then the fish and children breathe together!
What we know is that adults suffer from burn out, depression and general sadness often because they have not been taught some basic skills in early childhood. It is the author’s desire to reach children with the intention of preventing some possible need for medications and therapy down the road.
In this first book in the series children learn to stop long enough to take a deep breath while learning some great breathing techniques. Children learn in this Children’s book why balancing life is important because Jay all of a sudden no longer has the energy to play. With the children’s help Jay stops and breathes with the children and is re-energized.
The entire series (over a dozen stories and dozen’s more characters from fish to birds to border collies teaching about nervous energy) teach children how to alter their mood, learn about cultural diversity, learn how we each thing differently. In other words the series uses a type of coaching to coach children to coach themselves as a lifelong habit.
When children learn skills that empower them to be the greatest that they can be we all benefit.
